Yoga and Mindfulness Practice Program 
– 30 Hour Training for Educators –
“Peaceful Generation Now@Nanda” Yoga & Mindfulness Practice Program is a 30 Hour Training for Educators to foster an understanding of the foundations of a mindfulness practice in an atmosphere of trust and non-judgement. Using the 5 mindful literacies to cross-reference, support and enhance SEL, Common Core and and IB Curriculum. Now@Nanda explores the manner in which the body, mind, and emotions are affected by both our interpersonal relationships and the environment in which we live. We then learn the benefits of incorporating mindfulness, as well as mindfulness-based practices that will bolster our ability to find more equanimity in our classrooms, relationships, and in our lives.
Integrating mindfulness into schools will create space for healthy, safe and a ready-to-learn environment.
When the teacher and the child are relaxed, the real learning begins in the classroom. Mindfulness practiced in and authentic heartfelt way empowers students with life skills, how to pay attention, compassion for oneself and others, re-framing & gratitude, quieting the mind and self-regulation when faced with the daily stress of modern life.

 
The Curriculum will cover Mindfulness Techniques in the following areas:
  • Physical – Learn how to interpret external information through the senses and how it connects to the body.
  • Mental – Study how the brain works and positive effects of awareness, focus, concentration, and acceptance.
  • Emotional – Experience the language of heart and techniques including compassion, empathy, gratitude, and self-love.
  • Social – Learn the importance of extending understanding toward others and their perspectives, as well as exploring open-mindedness, connection, clarity, and appreciation.
  • Global – Develop skills in practices that connect cause and effect to the world around us.

    Program Outcomes:
  •     Develop a clear understanding of Mindfulness and Mindfulness Practices
  •     Have the ability to introduce mindfulness into any subject
  •     Learn and apply mindfulness techniques to their own teaching lives outside of the       classroom
  • Create a safe mindful space in the classroom
  • Integrate reframing techniques when facing obstacles
  • Understanding the connection between stress and anxiety and the effects on learning
  • Co-regulate with students during meltdowns and power struggles

  • Training will take place at the Malverne Studio except where noted
  • Saturday – October 13th – 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Tuesdays:October 23rd, 30th, November 6th, 13th, 20th,  – 5:30pm – 9:00pm
  • Saturday – December 1st – 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Sunday – December 2nd- 1:00pm – 4:00pm – Long Beach Studio
 

 
Program Requirements:
– 1 class /week during the training
– 3 class observations
– Daily Meditation, Chanting & Journaling

 
–  The training is focused for the educator teaching in a classroom K-12; however, anyone looking to develop their own mindful practice for self-care will be able to apply these principles to their work, or parenting of children and are welcome to apply.
– A desire to embody these practices with an open mind and open heart.
Tuition:
Includes:
  • Mindfulness for Educators 30-hour training certification. This training qualifies for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Credits.  Educators should check with their individual school districts for approval to have the training hours apply towards Continuing Education credits for Professional Development.
  • 10 yoga classes to be used during the duration of the training at any of the three studio locations
  • 10% Discount on all Workshop Offerings during the duration of the training
