Agustin McCarthy

Augustin is passionately committed to yoga as a tool for bringing greater strength and flexibility to the body and mind. He is an Advanced Certified Yoga Teacher who has completed trainings with Alison West at Yoga Union, Dana Flynn at Laughing Lotus and Durga Leela at the Sivananda Ashram. A filmmaker and former dancer, he has been practicing yoga for 15 years and has seen first hand the transformative effects of the practice. His classes are lively and full of joy, built on a foundation of intelligent sequencing influenced by a wide range of movement and meditation traditions, including Iyengar, Prana Flow, modern dance, yoga for back care and vipassana. By bringing awareness to the thoughts in the mind and sensations in the body, by cultivating attention to alignment and by practicing gratitude for each and every breath, the physical practice on the mat offers an opportunity to train in equanimity, developing the qualities of steadfastness and softness that can help us to engage with the world and open ourselves more fully.

“Training in equanimity is learning to open the door to all, welcoming all beings, inviting life to come visit.” Pema Chodron, The Places That Scare You
